The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recently toured the Valle-Coche highway from El Poliedro in Caracas, accompanied by First Lady Cilia Flores, Minister of Popular Power for Transportation Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, and workers from the Caracas Metro. During the visit, the group highlighted the progress made in the recovery and modernization of the Metro and Metro Bus facilities under the "El Metro se Mueve Contigo" plan. President Maduro's presence driving a Metro Bus unit boosted morale among the workers, emphasizing his personal involvement in revitalizing the transportation system. Minister of Transportation Ramón Velásquez Araguayán informed President Maduro of the significant progress in servicing and restoring 48 Metro stations, with a 98% completion rate, leading to improved service for subway users in the capital. A key aspect highlighted to the President was the national talent and multidisciplinary approach in the train recovery process, including manufacturing spare parts and conducting detailed studies for effective replacements and maintenance. Notably, 10 trains from Line 1 have been fully refurbished. President Maduro stressed the comprehensive nature of the system's rescue and recovery, emphasizing the importance of advancing the construction of the remaining Metro lines. Despite resource constraints, the government is committed to these infrastructure projects. Three key priorities were outlined for the complete recovery of the transportation system: achieving optimal operation of Metro and Metro Bus services, ensuring personnel safety and training for public safety, and improving worker welfare with expanded amenities like the Las Adjuntas dining hall. Efforts include reactivating 42 Metro Bus routes with modernized systems and restoring 351 stops, with plans for 636 stops. QR codes have been installed at stops for real-time bus arrival information. President Maduro expressed personal commitment to providing efficient and modern transportation services, emphasizing staff training and preventive maintenance practices to repair, recover, and improve transportation infrastructure for all citizens.
