Today marks the conclusion of the Leaders' Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum 2024, a crucial event that has taken place in Lima, Peru, where the world's leading economic leaders have gathered. This forum has focused on essential issues aimed at promoting economic growth in an increasingly uncertain global context. Peruvian President Dina Boluarte has led discussions centered on promoting free trade, social inclusion, and collective action against climate change.

Yesterday, informal dialogue included a roundtable at the Lima Convention Center, where leaders from economies such as the United States, Canada, Chile, and Australia shared their perspectives on current and future challenges facing the region. Around 10 AM, the heads of state began to arrive, gathering to exchange views on the APEC agenda and other pressing global issues affecting the economies of the Pacific Basin.

In her remarks, Dina Boluarte emphasized the importance of leveling the playing field for all citizens through tools that promote their growth. "It is essential to reinforce economic cooperation among APEC economies. We have developed a strategy to design concrete solutions to specific problems," highlighted the president, reflecting the urgency of fostering an inclusive and equitable environment in the region.

The event was held behind closed doors, limiting the dissemination of specific details from the discussions. However, the day concluded with a gala dinner at the Government Palace, where President Boluarte welcomed the attending leaders and officials, who enjoyed performances showcasing Peru's cultural diversity in the iconic Plaza de Armas.

Simultaneously, as part of the APEC CEO Summit, presentations were made by various economic leaders. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau underscored the need to address the challenge of artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly, emphasizing the balance between innovation and ethics in its implementation. His call for vigilance regarding the use of AI resonates in a context where technology is rapidly transforming labor and economic dynamics.

For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a written speech, highlighted the interdependence of Asia-Pacific and Latin American economies in a globalized world. "We are already an interdependent community of common interests and shared future where we all prosper together or lose together," he stated, emphasizing the need for deeper collaboration to tackle current economic challenges.

Throughout the summit, significant bilateral meetings took place. One of the most anticipated was between President Boluarte and U.S. President Joe Biden, where strategic topics such as investments and technology were discussed. Biden announced significant support of $65 million for Peru over the next five years, which includes the provision of equipment and training in essential areas.

President Boluarte also met with Chilean President Gabriel Boric, where they addressed cooperation topics ranging from economic growth to educational improvement. This meeting was particularly significant in the context of the 202 years of bilateral relations between the two countries, marking a milestone in regional diplomacy.

The meetings and discussions at the APEC 2024 summit have highlighted the importance of cooperation among nations to face global challenges. With issues such as climate change and social inclusion at the center of the agenda, leaders have emphasized the need to build a sustainable and resilient future for the region.

With the closing ceremony scheduled for today, where a final message from President Boluarte and the presentation of gifts to the leaders is expected, the summit promises not only to close an important chapter in economic cooperation but also to lay the groundwork for future joint efforts in an increasingly interconnected world.
