One of the most controversial figures that could return to the political scene is Donald Trump. The potential reinstatement of his leadership not only raises concerns about his style of governance but also about the influence of individuals like Elon Musk, who has been granted unprecedented power. Musk, with his impetuous character and business vision, has proven to be someone who is not afraid to challenge established norms. His closeness to Trump could translate into a political agenda that prioritizes corporate interests over social welfare. On the international stage, the war between Ukraine and Russia remains a hot topic. The global community wonders if we will see any progress towards a ceasefire or, on the contrary, if the conflict will continue to drag on. Putin's rhetoric, after 25 years in power, shows no signs of easing, especially with the looming nuclear threat. This specter hangs over the world, reminding us of the fragility of peace in our age. The situation in the Middle East, particularly in Israel, is also grim. The policies of Netanyahu's government have been criticized for their approach towards Palestine, which many consider a form of genocide. The lives of the hostages and the lack of concrete actions to address this crisis underscore the urgency for a change in the region's political strategy. The unwillingness to seek peaceful solutions fuels a cycle of violence that seems endless. In terms of security, international terrorism has shown an apparent decline in 2024; however, the start of 2025 with an attack in the United States reminds us that the threat persists. Despite efforts to combat extremism, it is clear that we must remain vigilant and prepared for any eventuality. International cooperation is essential to dismantle the terrorist networks that operate globally. In Europe, political leaders are facing complicated times. Most are grappling with internal challenges that test their leadership and responsiveness. The exception seems to be Giorgia Meloni, who, as the only woman in charge, might offer a different perspective amid uncertainty. Nevertheless, her role in the future of Europe is yet to be defined, and citizens are looking for clear answers regarding the migration, economic, and political crises. Latin America is not immune to this whirlwind of instability. The region has witnessed a series of political and social crises that have left many in poverty and on the brink of despair. Artificial intelligence could be a tool to overcome these challenges, but its effectiveness will depend on the willingness of leaders to use it responsibly and for the benefit of their people. The lack of effective leadership in the region raises questions about the future of development and social justice. However, despite this discouraging outlook, there is always a glimmer of hope. Youth activism in Spain, especially in response to the Valencia crisis, symbolizes the fight for a better future. This youth, who refuse to be silenced, represents a ray of hope that reminds us that change is possible if there is will and commitment. The wishes for peace and prosperity for the new year are necessary, but we must not close our eyes to the reality around us. It is essential to maintain a balance between the illusion of a better future and the awareness of the challenges we face. It is in this space that the true struggle for a more just and equitable world resides. So, as we enter 2025, it is vital that we remain attentive and active in seeking solutions.
