Easycancha, the Chilean startup that has revolutionized the way amateur athletes can access sports courts and facilities, has set its sights on Peru with the goal of expanding its business model in the region. The company, which already operates in over 750 sports centers across nine countries, aims to leverage the growing interest from Peruvian sports clubs to join its platform. According to Daniela Baytelman, CEO of Easycancha, this expansion is a result of direct contact with various clubs that see in the startup an opportunity to optimize the management of their facilities. So far, the company has partnered with three amateur sports clubs in Peru, but it expects that number to increase significantly in the coming months. "Entering Peru is in response to the sports clubs in that country that have contacted us with the intention of joining the Easycancha platform," Baytelman explained. The user-friendly nature of the platform allows any amateur athlete to rent a court to practice sports such as padel or soccer, something that has already captured the attention of sports enthusiasts in the country. Although Easycancha has only been operating in Peru for three months, it already has 1,000 registered users. The company’s CEO highlights that the growth potential is enormous, especially since they manage around 500,000 bookings per month on their platform, translating to revenues close to 2 million dollars monthly. "As more clubs join the marketplace, we expect bookings in Peru to increase as well," she added. A notable fact is the preference of Peruvians for certain sports, as according to Baytelman, four sports account for 90% of the bookings: padel, tennis, soccer, and golf. In particular, soccer is the most in-demand sport, with rates ranging from 35 to 40 dollars per hour for sports courts. This trend suggests a favorable scenario for Easycancha, given that soccer is one of the most deeply-rooted passions in Peruvian culture. In addition to its booking model for amateur athletes, Easycancha also has a business line focused on the management and administration of sports centers. In this regard, they are already working with professional clubs in Chile, such as the Colo Colo football school and the University of Chile. With an eye on the Peruvian market, Baytelman mentioned that they are in negotiations to collaborate with major clubs like Alianza Lima and Universitario de Deportes, which could significantly strengthen their presence in the country. Growth projections are ambitious. Easycancha expects to attract between 20 and 30 new clients in the amateur sector over the next year. Once this base is established, the company plans to open a commercial office in Peru, marking an important step in its expansion strategy. "For this year, we have a growth target of 50%, which means reaching a turnover of 3 million dollars," emphasized Baytelman. However, despite the optimism surrounding their growth, the startup does not foresee a new round of investment in the short term. Baytelman noted that over the last eight years, they have raised a total of 1.1 million dollars on three occasions, but they are now on a path to profitability that allows them to operate independently. Easycancha has already demonstrated its successful model in other countries in the region, such as Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. Their experience in these markets will be key to adapting to the specificities of the Peruvian market and establishing strong relationships with sports clubs. In summary, Easycancha’s arrival in Peru represents not only a new option for amateur athletes but also an opportunity for clubs to maximize their resources and offer better services to their users. As the platform grows and establishes itself in the country, it is expected to transform the way Peruvians enjoy their favorite sports, opening new doors for physical activity and community well-being.
