In a heartwarming display of community spirit and dedication, students from the Sixth Form at Colfox Academy have successfully raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research during their recent 'RAG' week. This initiative, which stands for "raising and giving," has become a cherished tradition at the academy, showcasing the students' commitment to making a positive impact through various fundraising activities. The week wrapped up with a series of engaging events designed to bring the student body together while contributing to a worthy cause. Among these was an innovative 'Escape Room' challenge, where participants tested their teamwork and problem-solving skills in a race against the clock. The adrenaline-pumping event encouraged collaboration and critical thinking, making it a highlight of the week. Additionally, a Christmas-themed 'Bake Off Challenge' stirred up festive cheer as students showcased their culinary talents. The delicious treats not only delighted participants but also added a delightful touch to the fundraising efforts. Furthermore, the beloved tradition of candy cane deliveries spread joy throughout the school, allowing students to send thoughtful gifts to their peers while contributing to the cause. Sixth Form Head Students Oliver and Toby reflected on the hard work involved in organizing the events but expressed immense satisfaction with the outcomes. "It was hard work organizing all the fundraising activities for RAG week, but it was so worth it in the end," they stated, highlighting the sense of achievement felt by all involved. Adam Teasdale, Head of the Sixth Form, underscored the importance of the initiative, stating, "We have a RAG week every year and have donated to a range of charities historically." This year, the decision to support Cancer Research stemmed from a collective desire among students to contribute to a national charity, especially given the impact cancer has on many lives within the community. The success of this year's RAG week not only reflects the students' hard work and creativity but also serves as a reminder of the power of youth-led initiatives in driving change and supporting vital causes. With over £1,000 raised, Colfox Academy's Sixth Form has once again demonstrated that their commitment to philanthropy is as strong as ever, paving the way for future generations to continue this admirable tradition.
