In a recent interview with the podcast "La casa de la cumbia," Néstor Villanueva shared details about his life and the difficult experience of being labeled as “Susy Díaz’s son-in-law.” Throughout his career, Villanueva has faced criticism and comments that have defined his public image, overshadowing his achievements and making his path in music more challenging. The label of "kept man" has followed him, and although he has worked hard, he often feels that his talent has been eclipsed by the fame of his mother-in-law. Villanueva revealed that facing such labels has not been an easy task. "Sometimes it’s uncomfortable because you try to maintain a good image, but if you do one thing wrong, they want to tear you apart," he stated, referring to the constant pressure of public opinion. This complicated situation led him to experience moments of vulnerability, where others' perceptions affected his self-esteem and his ability to move forward in his profession. Additionally, the artist mentioned that the controversy surrounding his figure led him to seek professional help. “I had to undergo psychological therapy because it was difficult for me to continue with my life, and I was afraid to accept contracts,” Villanueva confessed. This healing process was not easy; he admitted that in his early sessions, he would leave crying, feeling lost and overwhelmed. However, over time and with the support of his psychologist, he began to find the confidence necessary to continue his career. Reflecting on his beginnings in music, Néstor Villanueva recalled his debut in the choir of the Chancay parish and his first public appearance at a fair in 1994. "From that moment on, I began to get invited to different activities in other neighborhoods. Back then, I was happy to be paid with a soda and a cookie," he nostalgically recounted, remembering the sacrifice and dedication he has put into his career since his humble beginnings. Villanueva's journey took him to Lima in 1998, where he sought his fortune and persevered despite adversities. “I knocked on many doors and lived in various places like Iquitos, Chiclayo, Pucallpa, Juanjuí,” he mentioned, reflecting the constant struggle that has been his life. Although there were moments when he thought about giving up, the motivation from the public is what drove him to keep going. Today, the memories of those beginnings fill him with gratitude and determination. In the current context, Villanueva is determined to leave behind the stigmas and focus on his music. "Now I feel stronger than ever, eager to take on the world," he expressed, showing his renewed focus and energy for the future. With new projects on the horizon, he aims to record a new production that will allow him to continue growing as an artist. In a media environment where scandals and controversy seem to be the order of the day, many wonder how much celebrities charge to appear on television and share their experiences. Although the monetary value can vary widely, the truth is that exposure comes with an emotional price that many artists, like Villanueva, must face. Fame brings not only recognition but also constant scrutiny that can be overwhelming. Néstor Villanueva's story is a testament to resilience in a world where labels can be both a blessing and a burden. Despite the difficulties, his love for music and his desire for self-improvement are stronger than the criticisms. As he progresses in his career, Villanueva becomes an example of perseverance and authenticity, reminding everyone that the path to success is not always easy, but it is possible with passion and effort.
