Katia Palma has become one of the most recognized faces on Peruvian television, especially after taking on the hosting of the popular reality show "Esto es Guerra." Since its premiere in 2012, the show has seen various figures in the hosting role, and this year, following Johanna San Miguel's departure, it has been Katia who has taken the reins alongside Renzo Schuller. This new format, set to premiere on September 2, promises a renewed dynamic, dividing the competitions into two segments: "Body," focused on physical skill challenges, and "Mind," which will evaluate the participants' knowledge. The confidence Katia shows in taking on this challenge is reflected in her words. "I have the mastery, the experience, and the necessary tools to carry out a program of this magnitude," she asserts with conviction. For her, the true appeal of the show lies in the energy and charisma of the young competitors, who, according to Palma, are the real stars that keep the audience glued to their screens. Her television career began in 2001 with "Nada Personal," an entertainment program where she established herself as 'La Pepa,' a character that allowed her to address celebrity news in a fresh and fun way. Over the years, Katia has forged her path in the entertainment world, experimenting with different facets, from hosting to theater. "Life prepares you, and it’s important to know what to absorb and what not to," she reflects on her constant learning process. The program "Habacilar" marked a turning point in her career. For five years, she worked alongside Raúl Romero and occasionally with Carlos Barraza, which provided her the opportunity to hone her hosting skills. "It’s no surprise that a good producer, like Peter Fajardo, guides you and allows you to develop," she emphasizes, highlighting the importance of having a good team behind the cameras. Despite her success on television, Katia has never neglected her love for theater, a medium that has given her the creative freedom necessary to delve into comedy. "Theater gave me the freedom to break the fourth wall and develop solid comedy," she states, showing how her theatrical training has solidified her television career. However, despite her versatility, Katia is clear that comedy is her true vocation. Rather than adhering to the more crude styles of humor that proliferate on current television, such as that of "Hablando huevadas," Palma advocates for a more traditional and respectful approach. "Making people laugh is not easy, but for me, it’s natural," she asserts, emphasizing the importance of respect in humor. Although she has been invited to participate in improvisational programs that do not align with her style, Katia remains firm in her preference for more classic humor. "I don’t watch their show because I don’t like that kind of humor. I prefer programs like JB or the classic humor of 'Patacláun,'" she highlights, differentiating her approach from other comedians who opt for a more acerbic humor. With several projects on the horizon, such as the new season of "Las Bándalas 2" at the Teatro Canout and the idea of launching a YouTube program alongside Maricarmen Marín, Katia is excited about what is to come. Although she is still defining the focus of her new digital project, she is clear that humor will be the guiding thread. In a constantly changing television landscape, Katia Palma stands out as a key figure seeking to maintain entertainment at a level of respect and professionalism. Her approach to hosting "Esto es Guerra" and her opinions on other entertainment formats reflect a work ethic that distinguishes her in an increasingly diverse and competitive field. Undoubtedly, her career represents a fusion of comedy, respect, and continuous evolution—elements that will surely captivate her audience in this new stage.
