The Junta de Extremadura activated at 6:10 PM this Thursday the operational situation 1 of the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura (INFOCAEX) due to a forest fire that has originated in Pasarón de la Vera. This fire not only affects the locality where it started, but it has also reached the municipalities of Tejeda de Tiétar and Torremenga, generating a coordinated emergency response. The fire has caused the closure of the Ex-203 road, which is currently closed between kilometers 25 and 30. This closure is a preventive measure to ensure the safety of vehicles and the population that could be affected by the flames. The situation has become critical, and authorities have reiterated the importance of following the instructions of security and civil protection bodies. The activation of operational situation 1 is due to the fact that, although the fire can be controlled with the available extinguishing resources, it has been deemed that its evolution could pose a potential risk to people, property, and the environment. Under this premise, the management and coordination bodies for the emergency have been established, as stipulated by the INFOCAEX protocol. The 112 Extremadura Emergency Coordination Center has received around 100 calls from alarmed citizens who have spotted flames and smoke in the area. This phenomenon is common in forest fire situations, where the population plays a crucial role in reporting any suspicious or dangerous activity that may contribute to the spread of the fire. The deployment of resources to combat the fire is significant. A total of 44 personnel have been mobilized, including 11 aerial units, which consist of aircraft from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. Additionally, among the teams participating in the extinguishing efforts are eight fire brigades, two natural environment agents, as well as specialized fire technicians. The presence of the Civil Guard and Red Cross also reflects the magnitude of the response to this emergency. The efforts to extinguish the forest fires are intense and require a high degree of coordination. The Junta de Extremadura, along with other administrations, is working together to mitigate the impact of the fire and protect the local population, as well as the natural environment that has been put at risk. The forest fire season is usually a critical period in the region, and the behavior of the climate and meteorological conditions play a fundamental role in the spread of the fire. The community has been warned about the importance of maintaining caution and avoiding activities that could generate sparks or ignition in areas close to forests and dry vegetation. The efforts by the authorities and emergency teams are not only focused on controlling the fire but also on constant communication with the affected community. Clear and timely information is essential to maintain calm and ensure the safety of all residents in the area. As the evolving conditions of the fire become clearer, authorities are expected to provide updates on the status of extinguishing operations and any additional measures that need to be taken to ensure the safety of the population. Collaboration between citizens, emergency services, and authorities will be crucial to effectively face this situation.
