As Manchester gears up for its vibrant Pride celebrations, the city's public transport is embracing the spirit of inclusivity with a special rainbow makeover for the Bee Network bus. Fran Wilkinson from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) announced that the transformed vehicle is already operational, inviting residents and visitors alike to keep an eye out while they travel across the network. The Manchester Pride event, taking place from August 23 to 26, is set to be a spectacular affair. Central to the festivities will be three distinct performance spaces located in the heart of Manchester's Gay Village. The Village Stage, which anchors the event, will be flanked by the Alan Turing Stage in Sackville Gardens and an Indoor Arena that promises a unique "warehouse-style clubbing experience." Such a lineup underscores the celebratory atmosphere expected during this year’s festivities. Headliners for the event include notable acts such as Eurovision winner Loreen and chart-topping singer Jessie J, alongside a diverse array of LGBTQ+ performers hailing from Manchester. This mix of local and international talent is a testament to the city's rich cultural tapestry and its commitment to celebrating diversity. In addition to the festivities of Pride, Greater Manchester is set to buzz with various events this weekend. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the England v Sri Lanka cricket match at Emirates Old Trafford and Manchester City facing Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium. Music fans will not be disappointed either, as New Order and Blossoms take the stage at Wythenshawe Park, while comedian Peter Kay will be performing at the AO Arena. TfGM has urged motorists to reconsider driving into the city center during this bustling weekend, advising that traffic may be heavy due to the multitude of events. To facilitate smoother journeys, trams will operate at a frequency of every seven and a half minutes, ensuring that attendees can easily navigate the city. For those planning to attend the Blossoms concert on Sunday, a shuttle bus service will be in operation, providing a direct connection between Stockport Interchange and Wythenshawe Park starting at 16:00 BST, with return services running post-concert until the area is clear. Wilkinson emphasized the importance of planning for those attending the events, stating, "If you are heading to one of the many fantastic events this weekend, we'd urge you to plan ahead to make your journey as smooth as possible, but most importantly, we hope everyone has a great time." With such vibrant activities lined up, Manchester is poised to celebrate Pride in a truly spectacular fashion, welcoming everyone to join in the festivities.
