The journey in the Ford Bronco Sport from Lima to Huancaya and San Mateo became an unforgettable experience, marked by natural beauty and the challenges of the road. Covering a total distance of approximately 650 kilometers, the trip not only represented an opportunity to enjoy Peru's nature but also tested the capabilities of this SUV, especially at altitudes approaching 5,000 meters. The outbound route we took through Lunahuaná took us nearly nine hours. During this stretch, we had the chance to test the acceleration of the Bronco Sport, which, with its 2.0-liter engine and 250 hp, can reach 100 km/h in just seven seconds. The eight-speed automatic transmission, with its smooth and quick shifts, became a crucial ally in navigating the early stages of the journey. As we progressed, the road became more complex. On the stretch between Imperial and Lunahuaná, where the road is two-way and paved, we encountered sections without lighting. Here, the automatic high beam system proved to be essential, allowing us to maintain good visibility without dazzling other drivers. This type of technology is key on rural roads, where lighting conditions can change drastically. Once on the route to Huancaya, the demands of the road became palpable. With Pirelli All-Terrain tires, the Bronco Sport performed admirably on rocky trails. The ability to adjust tire pressure was vital, as it allowed us to improve grip and vehicle stability on uneven terrain. Undoubtedly, the engineering behind its high-profile tires was a determining factor in maintaining comfort and safety throughout the journey. The stretch to San Mateo, however, presented a true challenge. With 129 km of rough trail in difficult conditions and cold weather, each curve and geological failure required caution and attention. The Bronco Sport, with its ground clearance of 218 mm and generous approach and departure angles, proved to be a vehicle designed to face adversities. The disconnectable 4WD traction and the five G.O.A.T. driving modes provided the necessary confidence to navigate difficult areas, making the journey safer. As we ascended, the altitude began to take its toll. The engine response became slower, especially before reaching 2,000 revolutions per minute. However, the power of the turbocharged engine was felt once we surpassed that threshold. In this sense, the Bronco Sport demonstrated its ability to adapt to the extreme conditions offered by the Peruvian highlands. During the return trip, the conditions did not improve. The road to Lima was filled with potholes and difficulties, but the SUV remained steadfast thanks to its independent suspension. The maneuverability of the Bronco Sport compared to larger vehicles proved advantageous, allowing us to navigate more easily on a relentless route. Comfort was another crucial aspect of this extensive journey. The leather seats with manual adjustment and lumbar support provided the necessary comfort to keep us refreshed during the hours of travel. Features like the wireless charger and electronic climate control added to the overall well-being in the cabin, making the trip a more pleasant experience. Finally, upon returning to Lima, we analyzed the fuel performance. With 21 gallons consumed throughout the journey, the Bronco Sport achieved an impressive average of 31 km/gallon. This level of efficiency is remarkable for an SUV of its size and power, especially in high-altitude and challenging trail conditions. In conclusion, the Ford Bronco Sport is not only a vehicle designed for adventure but also becomes a reliable companion in the challenges presented by the Peruvian geography. With its powerful engine, advanced technologies, and adaptability, this SUV stands out as a solid option for those looking to explore the most remote and beautiful corners of the country. With this experience, it is clear that the adventurous spirit of Peruvians can find in the Bronco Sport a perfect ally for enjoying nature without limits.
