The Touring Automobile Club of Peru is an institution that has evolved over the years, transitioning from being a car club to becoming a club of individuals committed to road safety, mobility, and the promotion of motor sports. Founded in 1924 by a group of car enthusiasts who, during their road trips through a Peru still lacking road infrastructure, realized the need to provide roadside mechanical assistance. This led to the idea of creating the Touring, with the objective of offering emergency assistance to drivers. Throughout the years, the Touring has stood out for its commitment to road safety and the promotion of motor sports in the country. Affiliated with the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the club has taken on an important role as the FIA's representative in Peru, advocating for road safety education and the promotion of safety standards on the roads. This has allowed it to establish itself as a leading institution in these areas at a national level. The love for the country and motor sports has been the driving force behind the Touring throughout its history. The founders, visionaries in their time, mapped out routes across the Peruvian geography that would later prove to be crucial for the development of road infrastructure. The importance of these roads as arteries connecting people to different parts of the national territory has been emphasized by the current club president, Iván Dibós. In addition to providing roadside mechanical assistance, the Touring has diversified its services, particularly excelling in the training and education of responsible drivers through the assessment of applicants for driver's licenses. In this regard, the club has agreements with government entities such as the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima for the evaluation of applicants for various classes of licenses. In the context of its centenary, the Touring has begun the process of ISO 37001 certification for its Evaluation Center, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and ethics in all its activities. Additionally, the club has implemented measures to promote the participation of women in motor sports, following the guidelines of the FIA in this regard. With over twelve thousand members, the Touring Automobile Club of Peru is looking towards the future with plans for national expansion, aiming to strengthen its presence beyond Lima and provide services such as roadside assistance, issuing international driving licenses, and promoting road tourism. Furthermore, efforts are underway to develop technological proposals that encourage sustainable mobility and create alternatives to boost women's participation in motor sports. The commitment of the Touring goes beyond being a club of car enthusiasts; it is a club of individuals dedicated to road safety and responsible mobility. Its work in promoting safe behaviors on the roads, training responsible drivers, and promoting motor sports position it as a key player in building a more conscious and safe road culture in Peru.
