Currently, more and more vehicle owners are opting to convert their cars to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) due to its economic and environmental benefits. However, despite the advantages offered by this type of fuel, it is essential to take necessary precautions during refueling to avoid potential accidents. The CNG Loading Control System Administrator - INFOGAS establishes rules and recommendations to ensure safety at all CNG stations in the country, aiming to prevent gas leaks that could lead to dangerous explosions. In this context, PRIMAX, one of the commercial brands that operates CNG service stations in Peru, provides five key recommendations for users of this type of fuel. These measures are intended to safeguard the integrity of individuals and prevent possible incidents during the refueling process. It is important to remember that while CNG-converted vehicle systems are safe, it is essential to be aware of the risks associated with natural gas and act responsibly at all times. In the Peruvian territory, it is estimated that there are more than 5,000 CNG stations, with 49% of these establishments being independent brands. The main commercial brands present in the market are Primax, Repsol, Pecsa, and Petroperú, which contribute to the distribution and sale of this alternative fuel. In Lima and Callao, the highest number of CNG service stations are concentrated, reflecting the high demand and preference of users for this more economical and environmentally friendly fuel. With approximately 400 CNG stations in the Peruvian capital and its surrounding area, efforts are made to facilitate access to this fuel for drivers who have chosen to convert their vehicles. Additionally, it is worth noting that CNG is 39% cheaper than Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and up to 66% cheaper than gasoline, according to information provided by Cálidda, the company responsible for natural gas distribution in Lima and Callao. These data reflect the economic convenience for users in choosing CNG as fuel for their cars. In this context, it is crucial for CNG users to follow the recommendations suggested by authorities and distributing companies to ensure a safe and smooth refueling process. Prevention and individual responsibility play a crucial role in protecting both users and the environment, promoting a responsible and conscious use of available natural resources. In conclusion, the use of CNG in vehicles represents a sustainable and efficient alternative, as long as the established safety measures are followed and a precautionary attitude is adopted during the charging process.
