Educational transformation in SJL: Infrastructure project underway for 14 schools

Education in Peru is a fundamental pillar for the development and progress of the country. In this line, the Ministry of Education has launched an ambitious project that seeks to change the reality of 14 schools in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho (SJL), thanks to an investment of over 1 million dollars in infrastructure. This project, called the Special Public Investment Project (PEIP), has been made possible through an agreement signed with the Government of the United Kingdom, which has provided Specialized Technical Assistance (ATE) to modernize classrooms and improve the quality of education in the area. The Bicentennial Schools of SJL have become a historic milestone for education in the district, representing a unique opportunity for thousands of students who will benefit from this transformation. The Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL) No. 05 of the Ministry of Education has announced the start of the implementation of these works, which are expected to significantly improve the quality of life for students and teachers in the area. The official handover of the institutional keys to the contracted company marks the beginning of this implementation phase, which will be carried out by the Peruvian branch of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC - Peru). It is expected that the works will benefit more than 27,600 students in SJL, turning these schools into modern and equipped spaces for quality education. The list of the 14 Educational Institutions that will be part of the Bicentennial Schools includes schools from 21 districts in Metropolitan Lima and 9 regions of the country. With workshops, laboratories, and modern classrooms, these schools aim to improve student learning and promote an environment conducive to the integral development of each of them. The implementation of the works, carried out by CCECC - Peru, will take place in several stages, starting with the demolition of the current schools in the second half of July. It is estimated that the construction of the new schools will take around a year, with the delivery of new furniture and equipment meeting international standards. This ensures that by 2025, the Bicentennial Schools of SJL will have innovative classrooms, equipped workshops, and suitable administrative and sports facilities for quality education. The impact of this project on the student community of SJL is undeniable, as it represents a unique opportunity to access quality education in modern and appropriate facilities. The school mayor of the district, Briana Salazar, expressed enthusiasm for the consolidation of this project, which will undoubtedly mark a before and after in the education of the area.
