In recent days, two forest fires have kept the towns of Talaván in Cáceres and Víznar in Granada on alert. However, the good news is that both fires have been brought under control thanks to the hard work of emergency and firefighting teams. In Talaván, the fire affected a grassy area and originated on the grounds of a photovoltaic plant, while in Víznar, the flames forced the preventive evacuation of 70 homes due to the smoke. In Talaván, the forest fire, which broke out last Saturday at 14:28, has been contained thanks to the joint efforts of approximately 12 air and ground units. Additionally, efforts were made to extinguish the fire in the neighboring municipality of Monroy. Fortunately, no injuries or major structural damage were reported due to the quick response of the emergency teams. The Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires of Extremadura (INFOCAEX) has deactivated the emergency situation in Talaván, as no new threats have been detected to justify maintaining the alert level. It has been confirmed that the fire started at the photovoltaic plant in the area, although the exact causes are still being investigated. A total of around 95 personnel were deployed in the area, including firefighting brigades, heavy machinery units, environmental agents, and Infoex technicians. Collaboration was also provided by the Wildfire Reinforcement Brigades (BRIF) and units from the Fire Protection and Extinguishing Service (SEPEI) of Cáceres, as well as ambulances, special vehicles, and security patrols. On the other hand, in Víznar, Granada, the forest fire that kept residents on edge has also been brought under control and stabilized. Although the preventive evacuation of homes was a precautionary measure due to the smoke, the situation has been effectively managed by emergency teams in the area. Local authorities appreciate the collaboration and professionalism of all those involved in extinguishing this fire. It is worth noting that the fire in Talaván is the second recorded in the last 24 hours in Extremadura, following the one in Campanario, where it is estimated that about 750 hectares of grassland were affected by the flames. Fortunately, the prompt response of the emergency teams has managed to control the situation and prevent further damage in the region. It is crucial to remember the importance of prevention and swift response to emergency situations such as forest fires to protect communities and the environment.
