The Andalusian Forest Fire Extinguishing Service, known as Plan Infoca, has announced the extinction of the forest fire that broke out last Friday in the area of Cerro Muriano, in the municipality of Obejo, in the province of Córdoba. This fire, which mainly affected the Shooting Range and Maneuver Area of the military base of Cerro Muriano, kept the community on edge for several days. After an intense effort by the extinguishing teams, the fire was finally declared extinguished on Thursday at 18:30. It is worth noting that the control and extinguishing process was carried out effectively, managing to prevent further damage in the affected area. Since Tuesday, a small group of forest firefighters from Plan Infoca continued working on the extinguishing tasks, alongside other ground resources. During the course of this fire, approximately 571 hectares of forest land were affected, although this calculation does not include the extent of the flames in the Shooting Range of the military base. The fire was stabilized on Monday at 20:00, marking a milestone in the fight against this natural disaster that endangered people's lives and biodiversity in the area. The Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz, who also serves as the director of Plan Infoca, proceeded to deactivate the Emergency Plan for Forest Fires in Andalusia last Monday, once the situation was considered under control. This fire triggered a coordinated and efficient response from various entities, including the deployment of up to 200 personnel, 18 aircraft, and other specialized resources. The joint work of the emergency teams, both from Plan Infoca and the Military Emergency Unit, was essential to contain and extinguish the fire in the shortest possible time. The rapid coordinated action from the 112 Emergency Call Center, which received over 200 alert calls since the start of the fire, allowed an immediate and effective response from the competent authorities. It is important to highlight the effort and dedication of all professionals involved in extinguishing this forest fire, as well as the solidarity and support provided by the local community. Prevention and rapid action in emergency situations like this are key to mitigating negative impacts on the environment and people's safety. In conclusion, the extinction of the forest fire in Obejo is an example of the importance of coordination and efficiency in responding to risk situations. However, this episode also reminds us of the fragility of our ecosystems in the face of the threat of forest fires, so it is essential to continue promoting awareness and prevention as key tools in protecting our natural environment.
