The Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista, recently announced that the Government will allocate the sum of S/ 400 million to carry out maintenance work on 25,000 kilometers of roads across the country. This decision aims to improve transit on the roads and boost the national economic activity. During an interview on TV Peru, Arista emphasized the importance of carrying out these road maintenance works, pointing out that in the last four years, insufficient resources have been allocated for this purpose. In this regard, the minister highlighted the need to preserve the existing road infrastructure to prevent its deterioration. The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance stressed that Peru cannot afford to build new roads every five years due to economic resource limitations. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize the maintenance of existing roads to ensure their good condition and extend their lifespan. In addition to road maintenance, Minister Arista announced the construction of 600 small bridges in various areas of the country, at the request of municipalities, especially those in rural areas. These bridges, ranging from 10 to 25 meters in length, aim to improve the efficiency of transportation for the population in their daily lives. The funding for these initiatives would come from the supplementary credit of S/ 3,000 million requested and recently approved by the Congress of the Republic. This measure aims to boost the national economy, improve efficiency in public management, and promote development in various sectors. The Government's announcement regarding the investment in road maintenance and bridge construction has been met with positive expectations from various sectors of society. The improvement in road infrastructure will not only facilitate the movement of people and goods but also contribute to the economic development of the benefiting regions. It is important to highlight that proper conservation of roads is crucial to ensure road safety and prevent accidents. Additionally, investment in transportation infrastructure is key to enhancing connectivity between different regions of the country and promoting sustainable long-term economic growth. In summary, the allocation of resources for road maintenance and bridge construction is a measure aimed at strengthening the road infrastructure in the country, improving the quality of life for the population, and stimulating economic development in various locations. It is crucial that these actions are carried out efficiently and transparently, ensuring the proper use of public funds for the benefit of all Peruvians.
