Manager Phil Parkinson is pleased with Wrexham's North American tour schedule as the team gears up for their first League One campaign in nearly two decades. Last year, Wrexham embarked on a four-game tour to the United States, facing off against top clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. Despite returning from the previous tour just days before the League Two campaign kicked off, Parkinson's side managed to put up a strong performance. This time around, however, there is a significant difference in the schedule that has left the manager optimistic about the team's preparedness for the upcoming season. Speaking to BBC Sport Wales, Parkinson highlighted the advantages of the current tour schedule, emphasizing that the team will be back with ample time to shake off any jet lag before their season opener against Wycombe Wanderers on August 10th. He noted, "The key factors are that we're back two weeks before the season starts. It enables us to get that jet lag out of the lads' legs. And obviously when we're over there the travelling is restricted because we're on the West coast for the whole trip." The strategic planning behind the tour not only prioritizes the team's physical well-being but also aims to optimize their training and preparation time. By minimizing the impact of travel fatigue and providing a longer runway to fine-tune their strategies, Wrexham is setting itself up for a strong start in the competitive League One. As anticipation builds for Wrexham's return to League One action, the team's positive outlook on their North American tour schedule sets a promising tone for what lies ahead in the upcoming season. With the right balance of rest, training, and targeted competition, Wrexham is poised to make a mark as they embark on this new chapter in their football journey.
