The theatrical world is experiencing one of its most vibrant moments with the celebration of various festivals that bring together the best of the performing arts in different parts of Spain. Among all of them, the International Classical Theater Festival of Mérida stands out, which in its 70th edition promises to surprise and thrill the audience with a luxurious program. One of the highlights of this festival is the participation of Rafael Álvarez, better known as El Brujo, who returns to the event with his play "Iconos o la exploración del destino" until July 14. Additionally, a version of Aristophanes' play "Peace" will be performed as a tribute to the centenary of Francisco Nieva's birth, from July 17 to 21. To close the month, great actors such as Roberto Enríquez, Carmen Conesa, Alex Barahona, Juan Díaz, and María Ordóñez will come together in the performance of Shakespeare's "Coriolanus," an unmissable show. The presence of iconic figures like Victoria Abril in the play "Medusa" promises to be one of the most anticipated moments of the festival, which will take place from July 31 to August 11. Likewise, Eusebio Poncela, Óscar de la Fuente, and Ana Fernández will star in "Tiresias" from August 14 to 18, in a proposal that promises to explore new theatrical dimensions. The closing of the event will be in charge of "Iphigenia" with María Garralón and Juanjo Artero, until August 25. But not everything is focused on Mérida, as other festivals in different parts of Spain are also offering high-quality proposals. The Almagro Festival, in its 47th edition, brings together 41 national companies and 9 foreign ones, with established talents and new creators, from July 4 to 28. On the other hand, in Olmedo, the Corrala will resonate with the words of authors like Shakespeare and Calderón de la Barca, from July 19 to 28, in a proposal that seeks to bring the classics closer to the general public. In Niebla, the Guzmán Castle becomes the ideal setting to enjoy works by Quevedo or Calderón de la Barca, from July 13 to August 22, in an environment full of history and culture. In Sagunto, the performing arts festival celebrates its 41st edition with renowned names like Nacho Duato, Victoria Abril, and Joaquín Reyes, from August 1 to 25, in an event that will take place in different spaces of the town. The Clunia festival, in its 17th edition, stands out for its innovative proposal that combines contemporary dance and theater in works like "Pandataria," directed by Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, from August 9 to 17. And in Barcelona, the city's most important performing arts festival celebrates its 48th edition with distinguished names like Marisa Paredes and Lluís Homar, in a program that includes theater, dance, music, and circus until August 5. Finally, in Alcántara, the 38th edition of a classic summer festival in Extremadura takes place, with performances of works like "El castillo de Lindabridis" and "La comedia de los errores," from July 29 to August 4, in a festive atmosphere that combines the performing arts with activities for the whole family. With so many high-quality proposals, theater lovers have the opportunity to enjoy a summer full of magic and emotion in different corners of Spain.
