Venezuela prepares for crucial elections under intense controversy.

On July 28th, Venezuela is gearing up for a crucial event in its history: the national elections, which will feature the participation of ten candidates from various political parties, including the current president Nicolás Maduro. However, this electoral process has been the subject of intense controversy and criticism from the international community, which considers it illegitimate, lacking popular support, and a threat to democracy, both in Venezuela and globally. To ensure transparency and efficiency in the electoral process, a simulation was recently carried out by the National Electoral Council in Venezuela. This activity aimed to verify the functioning of the voting machines, familiarize the population with the process, and evaluate technical aspects. With the participation of more than 21 million people registered in the electoral roll, the simulation proceeded smoothly in 1,174 voting centers and 3,006 polling stations, with the presence of international observers, such as representatives from the Carter Center and experts from the United Nations. Despite the criticism and distrust surrounding the legitimacy of the Venezuelan elections, there are voices advocating for peace and respect in this process. Researcher Anabel Díaz Aché, director of Decolonial Culture at the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, has pointed out the importance of overcoming toxic polarization in the country and promoting an environment of dialogue and tolerance during the elections. However, elections in Venezuela are not free from controversy and accusations. The alleged involvement of the Argentine government in attempting to sabotage the Venezuelan electoral process has been denounced, raising questions about the motivations behind these acts. There is a strategy to delegitimize the Venezuelan electoral system that seeks to sow doubts about the results and reject them if they do not favor the political right, which could affect the will of the Venezuelan people. Amidst this tense scenario, the strength and support that Chavismo has maintained in Venezuela stand out, as well as the significant support from sectors such as women over 40, who play a prominent role in mobilization and leadership in their communities. Despite challenges, the Bolivarian government has managed to maintain political stability and the support of various sectors, including the national business sector. In this context of external pressures and media aggression, the Venezuelan people have shown unwavering firmness in their commitment to the Bolivarian Revolution and the country's sovereignty. Decolonial theories have gained relevance in Venezuelan society, strengthening cultural identity and a sense of belonging, and contributing to resistance against contemporary cultural colonialism. As the election date approaches, international attention is focused on Venezuela, where political polarization and tensions threaten to disrupt the country's stability. Despite criticism and challenges, Venezuelans are preparing to exercise their right to vote at a crucial moment for the nation's future, amidst a situation marked by uncertainty and ideological polarization.
