Central American authorities remain on alert due to the influence of Hurricane Beryl in the region, which has maintained a Category 4 intensity on the Saffir-Simpson scale with maximum sustained winds of 240 kilometers per hour. Although direct impact on the isthmus is expected to be limited, heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecasted in several countries starting this Thursday. In Costa Rica, the intense rains resulting from Beryl's influence have affected the territory since Tuesday, raising concerns about possible landslides and floods in vulnerable areas, especially in the southern and northern Pacific regions of the country, as well as in the Guanacaste mountain range. Costa Rican authorities remain on alert and issue recommendations to the population to prevent risky situations. In Honduras, a green alert has been declared throughout the national territory, with special attention to possible landslides, collapses, mudslides, and floods in vulnerable areas. Copeco has urged the population to take precautions, such as not crossing swollen rivers, securing house roofs, and avoiding using electronic devices during thunderstorms. El Salvador is also under alert due to the continuous rains expected for a period of up to 16 hours starting this Thursday, with the possibility of extending through the weekend. The MARN has warned about water accumulation that could cause landslides, roadblocks, and floods, with forecasts of between 150 and 200 millimeters of rain. In Nicaragua, weak rains are expected due to Beryl's influence, mainly in the Caribbean region. Although no alerts have been issued by authorities so far, the population is urged to stay informed and take precautions against the weather conditions. Guatemala is also on alert for moderate to heavy rains expected in the eastern part of the national territory, especially in the Caribbean and Petén regions. CONRED warns about the possibility of cloudiness and intermittent precipitation throughout the country in the coming days. In summary, Beryl's influence in Central America is triggering a series of alerts and preventive measures in the different countries of the region. Although direct impact of the hurricane is expected to be limited, authorities urge the population to stay informed, follow issued recommendations, and be prepared for possible risky situations. Coordination between emergency agencies and citizen awareness are key to safely facing this meteorological phenomenon.
