The Dia Group renews its sustainable strategy to amplify its impact Grupo Dia, the neighborhood supermarket chain, has presented its new Sustainability Strategic Plan 2024-2025, called "Every day counts." This initiative emerges as an evolution of the previous plan and aims to deepen key axes that allow the company to continue contributing to creating value for its customers, employees, franchisees, and suppliers, focusing on proximity as one of its great strengths. Dia's Global CEO, Martín Tolcachir, highlights that the purpose of closeness guides the strategic decisions of the business, with the goal of creating value in the communities in which they operate. After more than a year of work, the Sustainability Strategic Plan was developed with the participation of all areas of the business and the collaboration of 8,000 people belonging to the company's stakeholders. Among the four axes of the plan, the development of the local economy, the promotion of a diverse and inclusive culture, the care for the natural environment, and the promotion of a more sustainable value chain stand out. These axes become the pillars on which eight strategic commitments and initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be developed over the next two years. One of the most relevant commitments is the promotion of the local economy, which seeks to facilitate access to healthy and quality food, stimulate entrepreneurship and employment, and promote positive social impact in the surroundings of Dia's stores. With 2,000 franchisees and 2,600 local suppliers, the supermarket chain generates more than 17,000 jobs and makes 96% of its purchases locally. Another important axis of the plan is the care for the natural environment, which includes commitments such as analyzing the decarbonization process of the business, promoting the recyclability of packaging, and reducing food waste. Grupo Dia has set the goal of cutting food waste by 30% by 2030, compared to 2020 levels. Furthermore, the company is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive culture, ensuring equality in a more diverse, inclusive, and accessible environment. Likewise, it will work to mobilize its value chain towards a sustainable management model, classifying suppliers based on ESG criteria. In line with its commitment to sustainability, Grupo Dia has launched the 'Eat better every day' program to facilitate access to healthy and varied foods, raise awareness about the importance of nutrition, and promote healthy habits among its customers. With initiatives like this, the supermarket chain aims to help mitigate food barriers and improve the quality of life in the communities where it operates. In summary, Grupo Dia's new Sustainability Strategic Plan reflects its commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, demonstrating its willingness to contribute to the well-being of communities, environmental care, and the promotion of an inclusive culture. With these measures, the company aims to amplify its impact and establish itself as a positive agent of change in society.
