Congressman Flavio Cruz has been the protagonist of a series of statements that have had an impact on the Peruvian political sphere. In an interview with Gestión, Cruz expressed his opinion on various relevant topics, including the management of the current President of Congress, Alejandro Soto, the alliance between Perú Libre and Fuerza Popular in the Directiva Board, and the law that exempts political parties from criminal responsibility. Regarding Alejandro Soto's management, Cruz describes it as good, highlighting a certain order in the handling of legislative projects and a greater openness compared to previous administrations. However, he points out as negative the fact that Soto has maintained a prolonged silence in front of the press, which hinders communication with citizens and the dissemination of positive actions carried out in Parliament. In relation to the alliance between Perú Libre and Fuerza Popular in the Directiva Board, Cruz acknowledges that it was a risky decision, taken in an attempt to bring together different political sectors. Although he believes that the presence of Perú Libre in the Directiva Board has strengthened its caucus, he acknowledges that it has generated controversy among a portion of the anti-Fujimori citizenry that does not accept this alliance. Regarding the continuity of the agreement with Fuerza Popular in the upcoming election of the Directiva Board, Cruz points out that it is not a priority for Perú Libre at this time. Despite having generated conflicting positions in the past, there is currently no defined candidate in the caucus nor conversations with other caucuses regarding this issue. Regarding the law that exempts political parties from criminal responsibility, Cruz defends this norm by arguing that criminal responsibilities are personal and cannot be attributed to legal entities. Although it has been questioned by the Prosecutor's Office and the Attorney General's Office, Cruz maintains that Perú Libre has not engaged in conflicts of interest and that the law seeks to rectify a situation they consider unjust. Regarding the proposal to convene a Constituent Assembly to modify the Constitution, Cruz asserts that for Perú Libre, this issue is non-negotiable and remains part of their political agenda. Despite the lack of votes in Parliament at the moment, Cruz states that they will continue to insist on this proposal, based on the perception of a significant sector of the population that supports a constitutional change. In summary, Flavio Cruz's statements reflect the position of Perú Libre on various current political topics of relevance. From evaluating the Congress's management to the continuity of agreements with other caucuses and the defense of controversial legislations, Cruz shows a firm stance regarding the interests and objectives of his party in the Peruvian political scene.
