Yuber Pichihua, the Peruvian para cyclist from Apurímac, is preparing to compete in the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games with the goal of winning the medal that will qualify him for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. After losing his left leg in a tragic accident at the age of 17, Pichihua has dedicated himself entirely to para cycling and has experienced a transformation in his preparation, receiving support from the brand Jetour and improving his performance. With a positive mindset and the determination to reach the podium, Pichihua will compete in four para cycling events in Santiago 2023. Pichihua's passion for para cycling was born at an early age when he used his bicycle as a means of transportation. Despite the tragedy he suffered in his adolescence, he found the strength to move forward and become the representative of his country. His journey to competitive para cycling began as a spectator and cheerleader for his cyclist friends until he decided to compete again. Through his perseverance and determination, Pichihua managed to qualify for the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, where he will seek to secure a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Pichihua's future in para cycling will depend on his performance in the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games and having the necessary financial support to cover his expenses. Despite the difficulties he faces as a para athlete in a country where local and regional authorities do not provide enough support, Pichihua remains optimistic and motivated to achieve his goals and continue inspiring others with his story of overcoming and determination.
