Newcastle United's academy director, Steve Harper, is on the mend after suffering a stroke earlier this week. The club has confirmed that he had a subarachnoid haemorrhage, which is a less common type of stroke caused by bleeding on the brain's surface. According to the NHS website, it can even be fatal. However, the good news is that Harper is "awake and recovering well." The club has pledged its full support to him during his recuperation. In addition, Harper, his family, and the entire Newcastle United community have expressed their gratitude to the NHS staff for the exceptional care he is receiving. Harper holds the prestigious title of being the longest-serving player in Newcastle's history, having spent an incredible 20 years at the club. He joined as a young teenager back in 1993 and stuck around until 2013, when he made the move to Hull. Let's hope he has a speedy and successful recovery, as everyone associated with Newcastle United is sending their best wishes his way.
