Wildfires have once again struck the province of Ourense, causing alarm and concern among the local residents. Two active fire fronts have been reported in San Cibrao das Viñas and Cortegada, where emergency teams are working tirelessly to contain the flames and prevent greater damage to the natural environment and citizens' properties. The first fire broke out in the parish of Rante, in San Cibrao das Viñas, at 6:40 PM. Since then, the response from emergency services has been swift and coordinated. Currently on site are three rural agents, accompanied by six brigades that have been deployed to combat the fire. Additionally, three fire engines, five helicopters, and four planes have been mobilized, all committed to stabilizing the situation and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas. The Ministry of Rural Affairs has been closely monitoring the evolution of the wildfires and has informed the public about the prevention and safety measures that must be followed. The current weather conditions, characterized by high temperatures and a dry environment, have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. This situation has necessitated the activation of all available resources to effectively address the fire. Meanwhile, in the parish of Refoxos, in the municipality of Cortegada, another fire started at 6:15 PM. This fire, although earlier than the one in San Cibrao das Viñas, has required a similar deployment of resources. In this case, three agents, six brigades, three fire engines, a specialized technician, four helicopters, and two planes have been mobilized. Coordination among the different emergency teams is vital at times like these, where every second counts in controlling the advance of the flames. Local authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of rescue teams. They have been advised to avoid the areas affected by the fire in Rante and Refoxos and to assist as much as possible, whether by avoiding unnecessary vehicle use on the roads or reporting any signs of fire in wooded areas. Wildfires not only pose a threat to the environment but also to the health and safety of people living in surrounding areas. High temperatures and drought have made the Ourense region vulnerable to such disasters, which have alarmingly recurred in recent years. Therefore, prevention and education on fire management are more necessary than ever. As night falls and emergency teams continue their work, the community remains in a state of anticipation. The population trusts that the flames will be brought under control before they cause significant damage. This highlights the importance of having a rapid and efficient response system in emergency situations. In recent years, Galicia has suffered multiple wildfires, leading to a debate on forest management policies and the importance of environmental sustainability. The community is increasingly aware of the need to protect its natural surroundings, and the regional government has begun implementing new measures to combat fire and restore affected areas. The people of Ourense come together in hope that the fires in San Cibrao das Viñas and Cortegada will be controlled soon, allowing the Galician landscape, a heritage of the community, to avoid irreparable damage. Meanwhile, the fight against the fire continues, with all resources at the disposal of the brave individuals risking their safety to protect lives and the natural environment.
